What to know prior to watching the student video:
This lesson ended up being super long. It totals 27 minutes. There is a lot of new information in this lesson. I’d recommend completing it over the course of two or three days instead of all at once.
After Lesson 4a:
Drawing the ladders and naming the lines in 3rds will help so much with reading notes on the staff in the future. I’d highly encourage drawing multiple ladders with your student before moving onto the staff in the next lesson.
Lesson 4a Homework
- Draw ladders and label sounds going up and down a third apart.
- Write some combinations of one pulse and two pulse sounds. Add bar lines and measures.
- Continue working on The Farmhouse.
