Piano Teachers

If you are a parent with piano background or a piano teacher wishing to use Mrs. Curwen’s Method, this section will help guide you through Mrs. Curwen’s lessons, providing resources and tips along the way. I pull her method from her book and break it into individual topics. I also add the things I’ve learned teaching my own students using her method.

Even though I’ve recording numerous videos hoping to teach children from afar, I’d highly encourage you to teach your children firsthand if you have the knowledge and experience.

Just as in all forms of education, there is no better way to learn than when a real teacher sitting right next to you is actively adjusting her method for the benefit of the student. If this is your desire, I want to help you do this!

Even though there is lots of content on this site, I’ve placed the things that I think will help you most below. Consider watching the blog for new content being posted regularly.  You can also use the categories listed on the right side of this page to search for content that helps you on your journey.

Mrs. Curwen’s Teacher’s Guide may feel overwhelming at first to read, but once you begin to see the sequential structure in her book, it’s much more manageable. It is the foundation of everything on this site. My words here are an interpretation of her words, but you may glean even more seeing her work.

Finally, don’t hesitate to post your questions in the comments on the posts or email me directly with your questions. I also have a Facebook group you are welcome to join to get regular updates on site content and to ask questions. Just like you, I am a piano teacher and a parent trying to teach my own children. Hopefully we can help each other and encourage one another along the way!
