Here is a list of recordings of many of the simple tunes from Farm Scenes by Dr. Walter Carroll. Mrs. Curwen suggested this book as a simple book for teaching rote playing to a child who has not yet learned to read notation.
I have also used it in the early education of note reading as well.
Mrs. Curwen also uses a number of the songs in here to help a child listen for the different lengths of sounds. In other words, she allows the child to listen for quarter notes versus half notes versus whole notes before expecting them to understand what they are.
